“Financial stability allows us to make a living, care for our family, and "do good" by being socially and community-engaged.”
Throughout my life, I have been blessed with doors opened in many ways including being raised by parents and grandparents who valued community, education and doing our best. My daily goal is to leave things, especially people, better than how I found them. Until reading Aspire to Give®: How to Create a Meaningful Life Through Your Giving, it had not occurred to me that we are each Philanthropists - givers of our time, talents, treasures and trust.
During school and early in my career, my personality test reflected the fact that I am motivated by helping others. Even my social sorority motto is “Do Good” – a phase which I have adopted as my life motto. During a leadership development program, I was charged with writing my own obituary. What would I want others to remember about me? My prayers are that my memory will bring warm smiles of kindness and care with a witty sense of humor. My life legacy is that our world is a better place for my efforts.
I am delighted to join the Aspire to Give® team to increase my intentional focus on giving and helping others. Greg and I met thanks to our involvement in the Auburn University Women’s Philanthropy Board (WPB) and our mutual passion for improving other’s financial literacy resonated. My husband, Ron, and I have also benefitted from Greg’s speaking on his Aspire vision. I am honored and humbled that Greg invited me to join the team at this exciting time in Aspire to Give’s growth. Over the decades, it has been my pleasure to donate my time, leadership, financial support and talents with a focus today on lifetime learning, scholarships and financial literacy in several community, professional & non-profit organizations. I was honored when The Georgia Society of CPAs recognized my significant professional and civic contributions as the Outstanding CPA in Industry; as well as when another education nonprofit honored me as their volunteer of the year.
When I am not busy helping clients, teaching and volunteering, I enjoy being active and spending time with my husband, family and friends. A few favorite interests are healthy cooking (and eating), traveling to new places and relaxing time at the lake or ocean. A Georgia native, my husband and our two rescue dogs live outside Metro-Atlanta near my grandparent’s former farms; with a second home in Auburn, AL. With annual Auburn football season tickets, my husband (a fan by marriage) and I are regular tailgaters each fall with our “Auburn Family” (War Eagle!). I believe I have the heart of a teacher and am incredibly passionate about using my knowledge and experience to help others.
